APPUNTAMENTO A ROMA DAL 19 AL 21 MAGGIO, OLTRE VENTI I PAESI EUROPEI RAPPRESENTATI

Roma - Oltre cinquanta delegati in rappresentanza di venti Paesi e federazioni europee si ritroveranno a Roma dal 19 al 21 maggio per il Women’s Rugby International Leadership Forum organizzato dalla Federazione Italiana Rugby in collaborazione con Rugby Europe - l’organo di governo del rugby continentale - e con World Rugby, la federazione internazionale. 

Il Forum si svolgerà all’NH Villa Carpegna e ospiterà numerosi relatori di primo piano, con l’obiettivo di continuare a sviluppare la leadership nel rugby femminile assicurando al contempo eque opportunità continuino ad emergere per il movimento in tutto il continente europeo. 

La tre-giorni romana è rivolta a donne e uomini direttamente coinvolti nella governance, nel settore sportivo ed il ruoli amministrativi delle federazioni europee affiliate a Rugby Europe. 

Vi è la volontà ed il bisogno di continuare a sviluppare la percezione del Gioco femminile, e vi sarà un’opportunità per aiutare a dare forma agli strumenti compresi all’interno della progettualità "Rugby Europe Women in Rugby”, creando al contempo la chance per rafforzare ulteriormente la rete dei leader europei del rugby. 

Il Presidente di Rugby Europe, Octavian Morariu, ha detto. “Il tempo delle riflessioni strategiche è terminato. In occasione dell’ultimo Forum femminile tenutosi nel 2018 in Spagna abbiamo definito una visione forte e chiara di come sviluppare la partecipazione femminile in ogni ambito del Gioco. Quello che ci si aspetta da noi oggi è un pacchetto di azioni concrete e misurabili da replicare in tutte le Federazioni europee e che ispireranno le leader di domani”.

“Il forum di Rugby Europe arriva in un momento importante per il rugby femminile nel nostro Paese. La FIR si è impegnata ad offrire un contenuto concreto alle necessità delle nostre giocatrici in una società civile moderna, pienamente inclusiva ed attenta alla parità di genere anche nel mondo sportivo. Da subito abbiamo dimostrato quanto la nuova Federazione abbia in considerazione l’investimento sul rugby femminile, sia per le risorse umane che finanziarie. 

Nel corso del Sei Nazioni appena concluso abbiamo offerto alle nostre giocatrici uno storico accordo per il rugby internazionale femminile. In questo modo potremmo supportarle nel modo migliore in un percorso che ci porterà alla RWC 

venendo incontro alle loro necessità di lavoratrici, studentesse e anche rugbiste. Su queste basi continueremo a lavorare perchè le future generazioni di atlete e giocatrici in grado di incarnare i valori del Gioco dentro e fuori dal campo ma nello stesso tempo possano approcciarci al rugby nel modo più professionale possibile.

Ci fa molto piacere accogliere a Roma i rappresentanti delle federazioni europee, per condividere con loro una visione comune per lo sviluppo del rugby nel nostro continente. Lo sento un po’ come il ritorno a casa in quanto l’Italia è stata una delle Nazioni che più hanno voluto la crescita dell’allora FIRA oggi Rugby Europe. Grazie a panel di relatori altissimo livello sono certo che i risultati forum saranno estremamente rilevanti” ha dichiarato il Presidente di FIR, Marzio Innocenti.

Francesca Gallina, Consigliera Federale FIR e Presidente della sotto-commissione rugby femminile di Rugby Europe, ha detto: “Il rugby femminile è cambiato profondamente negli ultimi anni, una crescente attenzione è stata rivolta al rugby giocato dalle donne, il numero di giocatrici è cresciuto, ciononostante abbiamo bisogno di sviluppare la leadership delle donne non solo sul piano del gioco, ma anche al di fuori del campo, nei ruoli di governo o amministrativi di ogni livello, nei consigli federali, nei club, ecc. Lo scopo che condividiamo come sotto-commissione rugby femminile di Rugby Europe è quello di offrire maggiori opportunità alle donne per diventare leader nei diversi ruoli che possono assumere nel mondo del rugby. Sono davvero felice che, dopo tre anni dal primo Forum, ci incontreremo a Roma per discutere di come sviluppare nuove leader e come supportare le federazioni nel dare pari opportunità a donne e uomini. Sarà una grande occasione per tutte e tutti i partecipanti e le loro federazioni”. 

Mihir Warty, Chief Stragegy Officer di World Rugby, ha concluso: “Il rugby femminile rappresenta la prima opportunità di crescita del Gioco nel mondo, Europa inclusa. Il Women’s Rugby International Leadership Forum ci aiuterà a garantire che il rugby femminile rimanga al vertice delle agende delle nostre Federazioni, offrendo al contempo soluzioni pratiche per lo sviluppo dello sport”. 

The aim of the event will be to continue developing the leadership in women’s rugby and ensuring that fair opportunities for women in rugby continues to grow across the continent.

The forum is targeted towards men and women who are involved in the governance, sporting, and administrative positions in Rugby Europe’s unions across European rugby.

There is a desire and need to continue to develop how the women’s game is perceived and there will be an opportunity to help shape the key pillars on how the Rugby Europe Women in Rugby toolkit will look, whilst also creating an opportunity to further strengthen the network of rugby leaders.

Rugby Europe President Mr. Octavian Morariu said: “The time for strategic reflexion has passed. During the last women’s forum held in Spain in 2018, we had defined a clear and strong vision on how to develop women’s participation in all strands of the Game. What is expected from us today is concrete and measurables actions to be replicated in all European Unions and that will inspire women’s leaders of tomorrow.“

Marzio Innocenti (FIR Chairman) said: “Rugby Europe Women’s Forum comes at an exciting time for the Game in our country. FIR is strongly committed to give a solid contribution to our players’s need and to a modern, fully inclusive, and equal society and some key decisions taken by our governance since our stint has started are fully consistent with our vision. From the very start of our stint, we proofed how we do care about Women’s rugby, both financially and from a human resources point of view. During the Six Nations Championship an historic deal with our international women players has been reached, in order to support them in their pathway to this autumn’s Rugby World Cup and as students, workers and players. We will keep on working to develop athletes and women embodying the values of the Game both on and off the field, approaching the sport professionally at the same time. We are excited to host in Rome representatives from the other Unions to share with them a common vision for developing women’s game in Europe. It feels like a comeback-home as Italy has always been highly involved and supportive of the former FIRA, today Rugby Europe. We will listen to a thrilling panel of speakers and I’ve no doubt the Forum will be highly productive”.

Francesca Gallina (FIR Board member and Chairperson of Rugby Europe Women’s sub-committee) said: “Women’s rugby has deeply changed in the last years, growing attention has been paid to the women’s game, the number of players had increased, but we still need to develop the leadership of women’s not only in the game, but also out of the pitch, like in governance or administrative positions at every level, in the union boards, in clubs etc. The aim we share as Women’s Rugby Sub-Committee of Rugby Europe is to help European unions to give more opportunities to women to become leaders across the many roles they can assume in rugby. I am really happy that, after three years from the first Forum, we will meet in Rome to discuss how to develop new leaders and how to support unions in providing equal opportunities for women and men. It will be a great chance for all the participants and their unions.”

The Rugby Europe Women’s Rugby International Leadership Forum will help ensure that women’s rugby remains rightly high on the agenda of our member unions, and also provide practical solutions for taking the sport forwards.”
